17th May 2026: I thought that I would add this post to see if there is any local interest in this building. My time frame to renovate has been elongated quite substantially, due to what seems a very long and expensive planning process that has been required to get the permissions needed to repair and renovate the building.
I would like to explore options with interested parties in order to speed up the renovation process and get this building earning.
If you have a commercial/domestic premiss requirement in Brixham or a reason to want to get involved in this building and project. Or you can see an investment opportunity, then I would love to hear from you.
Nothing is off the table at this point so I would be happy to consider ideas that help progress this renovation.
3rd Jul 2026: Post Dangerous wall rebuild. I would like to add that I believe, at this point. the building is viable again. My original plan was to get this building to this point and then see where I was.
The two main obstacles to this buildings viability where in my opinion
1, The asbestos roof that was previously fitted. This has now been removed. This massively simplifies the logistics of further works on the building.
2, The failing structure and roof at the North end of the building. And the associated planning permissions required to resolve this. After a 2 year planning process, this roof and structure has also now been totally rebuilt. Construction grade English Oak has replaced rotten old softwood timbers. Traditional lime/Stone walls have been totally rebuilt. A “Dangerous Structure” notice can now be removed.
The rest of the renovation is relatively simple compared to these aspects. Time and money is what is required now.
My desire to seek other interested parties is due to the fact that I have to financially regroup now, and this will delay the renovation significantly. This is not the preferred way forward. I still have a lot of passion for the building but need to be realistic.
I have, what I believe is a great business plan for the building that I am happy to share with genuinely interested parties. I believe this building will be able to produce a substantial income.
I am also happy to hear other ideas.

Please get in touch if you think you can make use of this building. Details of the building will be added. Above is basically the current plan. there have been a few small changes made to this. namely, External WC doorway, to be blocked up. A better stair configuration and Mezz WC moved. Essentially this is it. I’m not a fan of running a bar so would be open to applying for that to be changed at a later stage.
Send me a message if you would like to discuss ideas.
James
